SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition II

Keio Alpha Hyperloop is a team of Graduate Students at the Graduate School of System Design and Management, Tokyo aiming to unlock the potential of living in Japan’s peaceful landscapes far away from urban life while working in its world-leading centers of hi-tech, finances and businesses. Our vision is an alternative high-speed transportation system in Japan to encourage the development of satellite cities, in order to alleviate excessive urbanization of certain major cities and clustering of close suburban areas. Hyperloop could realize the „just-in-time“ mobility flow for people and goods.

In Tokyo, capital of the world’s largest urban economy, over 30 million people live within a 50km radius and 2.4 million of them daily commute to their offices in three central wards alone. Traffic congestions, particularly in the railway system during rush hours, are one of the most serious social challenges in Japan’s metropolitan areas. Some train lines carry 100,000 passengers on 30 trains per hour in one direction alone, and up to twice as many passengers as the cars are designed for.
